VOORHEES, N.J. – Dan Vladar and Tyson Foerster have only demonstrated standout play for a brief time but the Flyers say they’ve seen enough.
On Wednesday, they rewarded goaltender Vladar with a five-year contract extension worth an average annual value (AAV) of $5.5 million, according to general manager Daniel Briere.
Vladar has one year remaining on his old contract, so the new deal kicks in starting with the 2027-28 slate.
Foerster, a winger who was a former first-round draft pick (2020), receives an eight-year extension with an AAV of $7.1 million, beginning with the 2027-28 season.
The 28-year-old Vladar set career highs during the regular season with 52 games played, 29 wins, 1,283 saves, and a 2.42 goals-against average. Among goaltenders in the league who played 50 or more games, he finished second in goals-against average (2.42), tied for sixth in save percentage (.906), and tied for ninth in wins (29).
He carried that momentum into the postseason where he recorded two shutouts, a .922 save percentage and a 2.18 goals-against average, which ranked first and second, respectively, among goalies that played 10 or more games.
“From the moment Dan arrived in Philadelphia, he exceeded our expectations,” Briere said. “He earned this contract extension by the way he competed every time he stepped in net. Beyond his play on the ice, he was an exceptional addition to our locker room becoming a big leader and positive force for our group. He’s a valued teammate who really gained the trust and respect of his teammates and coaching staff right from the get go.”
The 6-foot-5, 209-pound netminder signed a two-year contract with the Flyers as a free agent ahead of the 2025-26 season. However, he was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the third round (75th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft.
He has appeared in 157 NHL games across six seasons with Boston (2020-21), Calgary (2021-25), and Philadelphia (2025-26). He owns a 78-48-23 record all-time, including four shutouts, a 2.81 goals-against average, and a .898 save percentage. He adds another 12 appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, owning a 4-6 record.
Prior to establishing himself in the NHL, Vladar played parts of five seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Providence Bruins (2016-21), totaling 78 games played with a 36-26-10 record with an additional game in the Calder Cup playoffs in 2019. He also played 60 games in the ECHL with the Atlanta Gladiators en route to becoming an NHL mainstay.
A native of Prague, Czechia, Vladar has represented his nation on eight occasions across several levels (Olympics, IIHF World Championship, IIHF World Junior Championship, IIHF World Under-18 Championship). He most recently represented Czechia at the Olympic Winter Games 2026 where he started in net for the team’s lone win in the group stage.
Foerster missed 49 games due to an upper-body injury but still managed 13 goals in just 29 games.
“We’re excited to have Tyson be a key part of our long-term future,” said Briere. “He has established himself as an important piece of the foundation we’re building here. Since coming up through our system, he’s continued to improve and develop every step of the way into a consistent offensive contributor while also being a trusted and reliable 200-foot player. We have a great deal of confidence in him and believe he’ll play a significant role as we continue building toward a successful team for years to come.”
The 24-year-old Foerster has appeared in 195 career games with Philadelphia, tallying 61 goals and 100 points. During the 2025-26 regular season, he totaled 17 points in those 29 games. Foerster made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut this past season, skating in 10 games and scoring one goal.
During the 2024-25 season, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound winger set career highs in goals (25), assists (18), and points (43) in 81 games. He made his NHL debut for the Flyers on Mar. 9, 2023, at Carolina and scored his first NHL goal four games later on Mar. 18, 2023, vs. Carolina. He was the Flyers’ first-round pick (23rd overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft.
Prior to joining the Flyers, the Alliston, Ontario native played junior hockey for the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he finished with 52 goals and 114 points in 139 games. During the 2019-20 season, he led the OHL in power-play goals with 18.
From 2020-23, Foerster spent time with the Barrie Colts, Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL), and the Flyers. In 2022-23, he had a breakout season in the AHL with 20 goals and 48 points, leading the Phantoms in points and power-play goals (eight). He also represented the Phantoms at the AHL All-Star game in 2023. Through his 99 AHL games, he registered 32 goals and 68 points.
Internationally, he represented Canada at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, tallying six points (three goals/six points) in seven games to win a gold medal. He also recently appeared in the 2025 IIHF World Championship with Canada, posting two goals and one assist in seven games.
