Well, you can say this about Flyers general manager Daniel Briere — he’s a man of his word.
Asked recently if he would consider trading away his No. 1 draft pick (21st overall), Briere told assembled media at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, N.J. that he would consider all possibilities.
Fast forward to Friday night and that’s exactly what Briere did.
Working out of the Flyers’ headquarters in Atlantic City, N.J., Briere sent his No. 21 pick to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for the No. 27 pick along with the Sharks’ No. 62 and No. 120 picks.
The Flyers began the night with just four picks (Rounds 1, 2, 5, 7). They now have a first-round pick, two seconds, a fourth, a fifth and a seventh.
With the No. 27 pick, the Flyers took 6-foot-7 defenseman Maxsim Sokolovskii from London (OHL).
