Flyers to open 2021 development camp on Aug. 28

For the first time since the summer of 2019, the Flyers will conduct  their annual development camp, beginning Aug. 28 through Sept. 1 at the Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J.

Last year’s camp for prospects and rookies was called off due to the pandemic.

A total of 29 players are scheduled to attend the camp, ranging from 18-year-olds through first-year professionals in the Flyers organization. The roster includes 20 Flyers draft picks, including three first-round selections and four of the team’s 2021 selections.

Hopefully, fans will be allowed to attend, albeit with certain restrictions, including a crowd limit.

A complete on-ice schedule, as well as any potential sessions that may be open to the public, will be released closer to the start of camp.

The list of attendees includes Wade Allison, Tyson Foerster, Morgan Frost, Tanner Laczynski, Isaac Ratcliffe, Matthew Strome, Maksim Sushko, Linus Sundin and this year’s second-round draft pick, Samu Tuomaala.

General manager Chuck Fletcher announced the appointment of Rick Bronwell as new head equipment manager of the Flyers on Monday.

Bronwell joins the Flyers from the Minnesota Wild, where he has served as an assistant equipment manager since 2010.

He also has worked for the San Jose Sharks and previously held equipment manager roles in the American Hockey League and the ECHL, including with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. He brings nearly 1,800 professional games of experience to the organization.
