Flyers set to open training camp on Friday

The Flyers will open their 2018 Training Camp on Friday with 58 players taking part at The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

Camp will open with two days of on-ice sessions at 9:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. both Friday and Saturday with the camp divided into two groups.

The Flyers will be staging a variety of fan-friendly attractions on Saturday in conjunction with the on-ice sessions.  Games and activities will be set up inside and outside Skate Zone, including a photo booth and concessions from Dunkin Donuts and Dietz & Watson. There will also be fan giveaways to those in attendance.

On Sunday the Flyers will play their first of four preseason games in as many days when they visit the New York Islanders at 1 p.m. at Nassau Coliseum. The players not participating in that game will take part in a scrimmage at Flyers Skate Zone at 8:30 a.m.

On Sept. 17 the Flyers will host the Islanders at the Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m. and will visit them again on Sept. 18 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. On those two days, the group playing in those evening’s games will take part in a morning skate at 10 a.m. in Voorhees, while the non-playing group will practice at noon.

The Sept. 19th’s non-game group will be on the ice in Voorhees at 11 a.m., while the game group will visit the New York Rangers at 7 p.m.

The camp has an off-day on Sept. 20 and will resume on Sept. 21 with ice times to be determined, and a game that night at PPL Center in Allentown vs. the Islanders at 7 p.m.

Prior to the main camp, the Flyers will hold a three-day Rookie Camp at Flyers Skate Zone beginning Monday. The group will be on the ice at 11 a.m. today, 10 a.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

That camp will culminate that day with a rookie game at the New York Islanders practice facility in East Meadow, N.Y. at 6 p.m.

All on-ice sessions at The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone are free and open to the public, although the schedule is subject to change. The various group assignments and any changes to ice times will be posted daily at PhiladelphiaFlyers.com and on the team’s social media accounts. Broadcast information for the various preseason games will also be posted at those locations on game days.

Single game tickets for all 2018-19 home games will be available starting Tuesday at 11 a.m.  The club is waiving all ticketing fees on October and November games during the first official day of the on-sale. Fans can also gain access to a special pre-sale on Monday, including the no-fees offer, by joining the club’s FlyerWire email list at PhiladelphiaFlyers.com/FlyerWire.
