The Flyers have found some interesting ways to lose in overtime this season but in Saturday’s game at Dallas, there was little time for drama.
The Dallas Stars’ Thomas Harley needed only nine seconds to score his second goal of the game to beat the Flyers, 3-2, at American Airlines Center. It was Philadelphia’s fourth straight loss.
The defenseman won it after Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson‘s backhand was deflected and the puck went to Jason Robertson, who fed Harley in front.
That goal was the fastest overtime goal in Stars/Minnesota North Stars history.
Travis Konecny and Ryan Poehling scored for the Flyers (28-34-9).
Goaltender Ivan Fedotov allowed two goals on three shots in the first period before Ersson (16 saves) entered in relief at the start of the second period.
Harley gave Dallas a 1-0 lead at 6:27 of the first period on a shot from the high slot through traffic.
The Flyers visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, then complete their five-game road trip in Toronto on Tuesday.
