Flyers make nine-year-old Zachary Wertz’s wish come true

Zachary Wertz (left) signs two-day honorary contract as Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher looks on.

Zachary Wertz’s Make-A-Wish dream came true on Tuesday when he signed a two-day contract with the Flyers. Philadelphia general manager Chuck Fletcher did the honors.

Wertz, a nine-year-old from Egg Harbor, N.J. was a recipient of a life-changing liver transplant and made his original wish in 2020. Due to COVID-19 protocols, Zachary’s wish was forced to be put on hold. Zachary was scheduled to suit up and spend time with Travis Konecny, his favorite player at the end of practice. He also was going to take a tour of the Flyers locker room and training center facilities
