Injured athlete’s spirits lifted by visit to Flyers

VOORHEES, N.J. — Meeting professional hockey players is a time-proven way to lift the spirits of a young athlete who’s going through some adversity.

And so it was on Monday when 15-year-old Maison Houser visited the Flyers’ locker room at the Skate Zone.

Houser, who hails from Marlton, N.J., recently lost his right eye in a hunting accident in South Dakota.

He’s good friends with Tristian Laperriere, the son of Flyers assistant coach Ian Laperriere. The two play together in the Flyers Youth Hockey Program. Houser, a freshman, also plays on the Bishop Eustace High School team.

On Monday, forward Travis Konecny presented Houser with a Flyers jersey on behalf of the team.
